Sameshireblankiebomb
I lived between those words
Same - shire - blankie – bomb.
I lived between those words,
on a suburban street with a double name,
ripe with green and glistening sprinklers.

In Sacramento’s backyard,
my father engineered means to the world’s end,
My final part, belittled by brand names:
Titan, Minuteman, Peacekeeper.

Same - shire - blankie - bomb.
Between those words
I was blanketed in calm and gendered blues

My friends,
touch my blankie, fondle my house,
plush charms with tranquil power.

The Cold War is re-lit,
but don’t worry
my fluffy amulets
they will protect you.
